So if you find yourself not being able to stay disciplined whether it be your food choices, your workouts, your spiritual routine–whatever you know you start then stop, you have to look within as to the real reason that you aren’t following through.
Many people start something positive for themselves, then stop usually just when we are feeling the shift. Why? Why does that happen?
When we step out of our comfort zone and the brain gets all scared and goes into “save you” mode, you have to quiet the fear and assure it that this next step is worth the discipline, worth the consistency in the small basic things that add up to big things.
Discipline is really just pushing through when our minds have made an attempt at self-sabotaging us. That is what procrastination is. That is finding a million other things to do other than what you know you should do. That is is the mind saying ” I don’t have time for…….” and it is the automatic justifications (that we know are just really excuses) stepping up and giving us a reason why we “don’t really have to.”
But, we really DO HAVE TO. Our lives are shaped by our daily decisions. Small and big, they all lead up to the life that unfolds for us. Every decision counts in the long run.
Discipline is sticking to those things that make you better daily and that you do even when you don’t feel like doing it.
That is what makes the difference in our lives. That is what makes us expand and at the end of that road, there is joy. Eventually we all have to own up to our choices and I don’t know about you, but I never want to look back and feel that I could have really changed an outcome if I just stuck to what I knew would help me grow.
